Getting it Together.

I am consistently wanting to make everything.

And, then I want to make everything else and then I make some things and then they live in a hard drive or on a shelf or on a wall or in storage or at a friends house (Thank goodness for friends who love your stuff) or wherever it lands. That does not work. Showing your work is important and yet I have been opposed to participating for some unknown reason. Slowly unraveling the reasons, I realize that the Art world as I know it is not very interesting. The people are interesting. It is fun to swim in a sea that is over saturated with self worth and importance and a never ending supply of booze and conversation. It is the conversation that I love, it is the moment within a conversation where a group has a shared mutual mind. Even if only for a brief moment, this is the data exchange that intrigues me.

This is why I leave my studio to venture to your show/ studio / lecture / conversation.

 There is a fear when you are creating your own reality that is solely based on what the hell am I building philosophy of life.

What are we building? What am I building? These are all questions that I contemplate at the very least once a week.

On this note, I am committing to redoing my website and making all of my blogs and Etsy and Pinterest and tumblr and Facebook and all of the other things I forget passwords to quite frequently (Don't judge, there are lots of moving parts both inside and outside of my mind and world.)

Either way, I have needs and my need for a flat file tends to be superceded by my desire to ride my bike.

Google and Pinterest have combined and optimized together so that google images now returns Pinterest heavy results. Wow! I call that an epic example of google favoritism in a non resourceful way. Fail. Google it. In the meantime. I am into geometry.

DIEM design intersects everything made

I had the opportunity to attend a really great design symposium in West Hollywood last week, and was fortunate enough to walk away inspired and reminded that I am doing what I love.

The attendees included many eager and prominent open minds in design and art in Los Angeles. Among the designers and artists and scholars within the discipline of aesthetic and value and between definition.

I go back to my studio with a renewed sense of clarity within my craft ready to hunt and create.

I am so happy to have somehow created a studio gallery space that is somewhere I can work and feel creative as well as open up to other artists to show their work. I for one know that it is very important to get your work out of your studio and show in spaces that fit your medium. 

The work that you see on the walls is the work of photographer and cinematographer Karl Hahn. I feel fortunate to have met him and am inspired and lucky to work with such talent.

These pieces are part of a series I did in 2009, exploring the elements of fantasy and technology and the ever present dynamic of progress and the idea of development and it's effect on the natural and organic world. Much of what we know to be is based on an idea that is either perceived or proven. I have been fascinated by the concept of natural evolution and the seemingly destructive elements that arise from this progress. Within progress lies change and within change there is destruction and therefore creation. 

Horizon Lines are an ever present geometrical divide in my work providing a semblance of balance.
